Proper care ensures improved syringe performance <strong>and</strong> long life<br />
the unique manufacturing techniques, plus the leak<br />
checks <strong>and</strong> inspection of every individual sGE syringe,<br />
ensure it meets the required sGE st<strong>and</strong>ard. to prolong<br />
the life of your syringe we recommend the following<br />
care process.<br />
1. Cleaning<br />
only use water <strong>and</strong> a mild detergent if cleaning is<br />
required. avoid the use of strong oxidizing agents,<br />
halogenated or organic solvents.<br />
after cleaning ensure internal surfaces are dry<br />
especially area between o-ring <strong>and</strong> plunger disc.<br />
refer to assembly drawing. clean outside surfaces<br />
with a soft cloth.<br />
2. Sterilization<br />
only sterilize using gas, radiation or disinfectant. do<br />
not autoclave.<br />
3. Plunger Care<br />
smooth plunger action is achieved by smearing<br />
a small amount of silicone oil on the o-ring (200<br />
fluid, 350 centistokes viscosity; dow corning).<br />
Ensure any excess is removed once plunger action<br />
feels comfortable.<br />
5. Temperature Considerations<br />
do not subject <strong>Jumbo</strong> syringes to temperatures in<br />
excess of 80 °c.<br />
6. O-ring Replacement<br />
the o-ring can be replaced or adjusted using a<br />
19 mm open spanner to loosen or tighten the<br />
hex nut (f). once the plunger is inserted into the<br />
barrel, the hex nut can be adjusted until o-ring<br />
exp<strong>and</strong>s enough to create a seal against the barrel.<br />
