Regional Parks are

Regional Parks are thebackbone of the County ParkSystem. They combine the functionsof recreation and conservation areas,providing a mix of recreationalopportunities while preserving amajor portion of the park in anatural, undeveloped state.Typically, each regional park hassome unique features or facilitiesthat distinguish it from otherregional parks and attract visitorsfrom throughout the county. Allcounty residents should be within10 miles of at least one RegionalPark. The combined total acreage inthe Regional Park and RecreationArea categories should equal orexceed a standard of 10 acres per1,000 county residents. Recreation Areas generally do not contain alarge environmentally sensitive area. All county residents should be within 8miles of a Recreation Area.
