We launched our mobile pantry program, reaching out toneighbors in urban and rural communities where food assistancewas needed, but not readily available.very year we report numbers: how many pounds of food wedistributed, how many volunteer hours we received, howEmany programs depend on us to help them feed ourneighbors in need and so on. But behind each and every numberis a story - a face, a name, a person who is struggling - and thesestories are the reason we come to work every day.Stories like young Blake’s, who would be going to bed hungry if itwasn’t for the nearby Kids Cafe where he enjoys a hot meal everyweeknight.Stories like Alice’s, a grandmother who doesn’t have to make thetough decision about whether to warm up her home or eat dinner.“I’m glad I don’t need to wear my coat inside,” says Alice, who,without Totes of Hope - Seniors, would otherwise skip dinnerbecause she doesn’t have the money to pay for groceries andheat this month.Stories about families like Vikki’s, a young mother trying to heal fromcancer while caring for her aging father and coping with herhusband’s lowered wages, lost health insurance and possibly theloss of their home. Thanks to a local pantry, finding food to keepthem nourished is one less thing they have to worry about. Thatpantry relies on Food Bank of the Rockies to keep their shelvesstocked.We surpassed the 100,000 hour mark with our volunteercontributions, a number we never imagined possible only a fewyears ago.We enhanced online ordering and increased our purchased foodprogram for our agency partners, making it easier for them toobtain needed food for their programs.Our Nutrition Network continues to expand our Totes of Hope -Children and Seniors programs, our After School Snacks programand our Kids Cafe sites. This summer, we supplied a record 70 lunchprogram sites. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to reachmore of our most vulnerable citizens than ever before!We continue to work with the USDA, distributing emergency food toour partner agencies, commodity boxes to seniors and food forfree and reduced school lunches throughout our service area.We distributed a record 39.4 million pounds of food and essentialslast year, the equivalent of more than 84,000 meals each day. Thisis only possible because of our generous community.We are fortunate to have many contributors to our mission andwhile we are unable to recognize them all in this report, we are trulygrateful for every dollar, every can, every gift-in -kind and everyvolunteer hour received. Thank you so much for your kindness!And Food Bank of the Rockies relies on you, our generouscontributors. Without your gifts of food, funds and time, wecouldn’t feed our neighbors so desperately struggling to makeends meet.
