UNMANNED THREAT EMITTERThe DRS modernized Unmanned Threat Emitter (UMTE) isa true Effective Radiated Power (ERP) system remotelyoperated with high-fidelity signal representation. This systemprovides Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) ranging solutionsresulting in realistic tactical training for combat aircrews.UMTE is excellent for mission rehearsal ranges where pilotscan practice their tactics before encountering the real threatin actual combat. Advanced threats are easily programmedthrough our user-friendly ThreatBuilder software and thepedestal is robust, supporting antenna movement at a ratethat easily tracks high- speed targets. The modernizationprogram provides enhancements to the threat reactivitymodel to include aircraft maneuvers and deployment ofchaff. The state-of-the-art Electronic Attack (EA) receiversthat analyze the jamming produced by the aircraft systemand enable the threat to react accordingly, are invaluabletools for training today’s pilots how to survive in toughwartime environments. The modernized UMTE systems have been installed atNellis, NV, Luke, AZ and Eielson, AK Air Force Bases and arescheduled for Volk Field, WI in the near future. The UMTEsystem has also been successfully fielded to the Cold lakeAir Weapons Range in Alberta, Canada. UMTE is the leadingedge in realistic pilot training for real world electronicwarfare environments.
