SECTION 6: VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENTOTHER HAZARDS6.16 WILDFIREVolusia County is uniformly exposed to wildfire risk, especially during the hot dry summer months anddrought conditions. MEMPHIS data was used to determine the number of people and improvedproperties that are susceptible to medium and high wildfire risk. The MEMPHIS wildfire potential riskmap accounts for the mode of fuel types to determine the risk category. Each fuel model was assigned acode (i.e. “low”, “medium”, or “high”) based on the fires spreading potential during a climatologically“dry” year.
