<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Local</strong> Mitigation Strategy UpdateMitigation Strategy Meeting<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Schools Facilities Services3750 Olson Drive, Daytona BeachAugust 21, 200910:00 AM – 12:00 PMMINUTESAttendees: See attached roster.1) WelcomeThe members of the <strong>LMS</strong> Working Group were welcomed to the meeting to discusstheir review comments and update the critical facilities inventory.2) Discussion of Review Comments for Draft <strong>LMS</strong>The <strong>LMS</strong> Working Group provided comments for the draft <strong>LMS</strong> either in writing priorto this meeting or during the meeting. Examples of revisions that were requested forthe plan sections are as follows:1. No changes2. Fix formatting and revise the <strong>LMS</strong> Working Group list3. Remove Flagler Beach from the maps and tables and update land useinformation for Daytona Beach Shores4. No changes5. Delete historical hail records that were for less than one inch; includedescriptions of Hurricanes Irene and Jeanne and Tropical Storm Fay;emphasize that thousands of lightning strikes occur during summerafternoons, which is not reflected in the historical data that is available;include additional hazards events as noted; and designate drought as a highrisk6. Mention in the flood assessment that new floodplain data will be available in2011; and explain that the 2000 Census population estimates were used tomap the population as more recent estimates were not available for mappingat the jurisdictional level.7. Update Table 7.1 with information provided and complete the conclusions,and revise Holly Hill’s CRS rating to an 8.8. Add an “s” on to the end of a word.9. No changes10. No changes3) Jurisdictions to Identify Ownership of Critical FacilitiesEach jurisdiction identified the ownership of their critical facilities.4) Wrap UpThe modifications will be included in the final draft that will be provided to the <strong>County</strong>.
