ENGINEERING+DESIGN
MANAGEMENT
CONSULTING
Dietmar Ringkamp was born in 1949 in Westenholz/Paderborn
After finishing school, Dietmar did a degree in mechanical engineering
at Hanover Technical University. His first job was designing conveyors
for a large company in Oberhausen-Sterkrade which manufactured both
single components and large plant.
In 1978 he moved to another company in Oberhausen which built power
plants. There, he worked on the job he does today, which is insulating
components in large plants. His specialism, then as now, was the insulation
of utility steam boilers.
From 1981 to 1984 he worked as a site supervisor on a major building
site in Kuwait, where he was able to gain a wealth of practical experience.
From 1987 he took on top-level responsibilities, first as deputy
manager and area manager and then from 1994 to 2009 as manager,
for a company specialising in large-scale insulation projects. Under his
leadership the company successfully insulated more than 20 large coalfired
boilers each with a generating output of over 300 MW.
During this time he set new standards in the insulation of utility steam
generators.
From 1999 Dietmar was a member of the AGI WKSB working party,
whose aim it was to devise a set of technical rules and procedures for
insulating large plant which has since achieved international status.
His decision in November 2009 at the age of 60 to take on a fresh challenge
in a completely new situation is evidence of the tremendous interest
he has in new developments in the design of insulation systems
and in their improvement.
Dietmar has been living in Kirchhellen/Bottrop since 1977. He has
been married since 1974 and has two children.

MANAGEMENT
CONSULTING
Michael Friedrich Grevinga was born in Dortmund in 1963
Michael studied mechanical engineering at Düsseldorf University of Applied
Sciences, specialising in plant technology and planning. He then
worked for eight years in a very reputable insulating company in Dortmund.
During his time there he worked on calculations and project management,
before transferring to the project management of large-scale projects.
In 2000 he moved to a large European industrial services provider, where
he worked in the Central Department for Projects Controlling based
in Düsseldorf.
His main responsibilities were the commercial project controlling for
large-scale international projects and the improvement of the project
management structures within the group.
During this time he worked for eighteen months in Norway, where he
implemented the group project management system and did the controlling
for two large-scale projects.
During his career he has taken on many different challenges and has
experienced many different cultures, for example when he did the commercial
supervision of a major Joint Venture project in Venezuela and
when he worked on projects in the Middle East and Canada.
Michael Grevinga is married and has two daughters.

After finishing school Zivko did an apprenticeship as an industrial insulator
and then worked on various projects as fitter and in prefabrication.
He came to Germany in 1970.
He worked for 3 years for Rohrleitungsbau Essen, a company specialising
in making and fitting pipes, and then at Babcock Bau, a subsidiary
of Babcock, the boilermakers. Here, he was quickly promoted to foreman
and then to overseer.
He qualified as a master pipe fitter in 1982.
After working on several sites as site manager for pipe insulation, he
worked in Heyden/Petershagen as overall site manager on a coal-fired
boiler project with an output of 800 MW.
He then worked as site manager on a major project for RWE at Frimmersdorf
conduits.
He then became senior site manager for a large-scale ARGE made up
of 6 companies whose job it was to insulate the Munich North Power
Plant. It was this which enabled him to make the transition to project
management, since he was directly responsible for the results of the
project at every step.
He has been working successfully now on large-scale power plant insulation
projects as senior project manager since 1989.
Zivko Tanasic lives in Recklinghausen. He is married and has 2
CONSULTING
Engineering + Design:
Our Engineering and Design services comprise:
In the Project Phase: Planning and Tenders
• support in drawing up specifications and insulating systems
• correctly positioning the structures and the insulation so that, for
example, the minimum distances between adjacent parts are
maintained; correctly dimensioning all structures which are to be
built on or built in.
• drawing up bills of quantities as a basis for tenders
• pre-dimensioning the insulation systems
In the Order Phase: Design, Statics and Work Preparation
• we design the insulation systems, including the statics. Our insulation
systems go beyond statutory requirements and the usual standards of
workmanship.
e.g. > we define and develop insulating systems, including the design
of the cladding for large plant components with high operating
temperatures or for plants situated in the open air and which is
exposed to wind forces.
> we design insulation systems for expansion joints which are sub
ject to large 2D and 3D movement
> we do the design work for the construction of internal sheet metal
panels for “header rooms” and “penthouses” on steam boilers
> we do the design work for internal insulating with sheet metal liners
(500°C to 800°C) and similar systems behind gas turbines and in
heat treatment plants
> we also do the design work for heat and cold insulation systems
including fixing the cladding to tanks or spheres.
• we draw up the contract specifications, describing the work to be
carried out
• we produce materials lists with requirements regarding the quality,
the dimensions and the order quantities for all materials
• we do method statements of the way the work is to be carried out
(incl. welding procedures)
• we co-ordinate and produce the quality assurance documentation
• we draw up the final documentation

Supply and Assembly of
Special Insulation Systems /
Special Assemblies:
Some insulation systems require more complex engineering and
special know-how. In particular, the installation of header rooms in
power plants can involve having to deal with a considerable amount
of movement in the substructure and cladding. Also Internal Insulation
Systems present considerable problems from the point of view
of the technical design. INSULEX have the very best solutions for all
these special areas.
Header Rooms for Power Plant Boilers
• the design, delivery and assembly of the steel structure and the
liner for the “penthouse” and header rooms; if required, we can
also do the insulation and the outer cladding.
Internal Insulation Systems
• the design, delivery and assembly of complete internal insulation
systems or part areas of it, such as the design of the anchorings
and inside liner cladding including the necessary layout plans.
Insulation Systems with Welding
• the design, delivery and fitting of those parts of an insulation
system which involve welding work
e.g. substructure systems for the outside sheet metal cladding if,
for example, you need to take into account wind or snow
factors when calculating your statics.
e.g. radiation plates on reinforcement profiles for air ducts, flue gas
ducts, precipitators
e.g. the inside covering for compensators.
You can have confidence in us. Our know-how in these
segments is well above average!

Supply of Special
Materials:
If you require insulating materials which are outside the normal
range, then we can obtain them for you.
Such materials could be:
• heat-proof or refractory steels; we select based on the parameters
which you give us
• special substructure systems for mounting internal or external
cladding - as required we can also supply the statics
documentation.
• microporous insulating materials with suitable assembly
instructions
• aerogel insulating materials
Of course, we can also supply standard industrial insulating materials
and in so doing we can use our knowledge of international markets
to your advantage.
