Update WeeklyFor the DFDS GroupNo. 21 / 24 May 2013The red lines show DFDS’s new Baltic Searoutes, which will ensure additional capacity toKiel-Klaipeda and both higher frequency andcapacity to Russia. “The new route connects StPetersburg/ Ust Luga with all our Baltic ports,”says Vice President Anders Refsgaard, BU Baltic.DFDS expands Baltic networkAs you could see from the Q1 results, we are enjoying continued growth in volumes inthe Baltic Sea, where VICTORIA and REGINA SEAWAYS are fairly full on their six weeklysailings between Kiel and Klaipeda. There is also a need to adapt our services forRussia, where more ro-ro capacity is needed rather than the rail capacity we offerthrough VILNIUS SEAWAYS from Sassnitz. "We therefore decided to change the sailingpattern last week by putting the CLIPPER POINT and BOTNIA SEAWAYS ro-ro ships intoservice in a route structure that connects Kiel, Klaipeda, St Petersburg and Ust Luga. This provides a wide range of great benefits: We get two extra weekly departures atKiel-Klaipeda. We gain a new route between Klaipeda and St Petersburg/ Ust Luga andwe have increased both ro-ro capacity and frequency between Germany and Russia.Another great benefit will be that we are connecting St Petersburg and Ust Luga with allour Baltic ports via our network hub in Klaipeda. It will be a big challenge for our staff inGermany, the Baltic countries and Russia to attract the additional volumes required forthe extra capacity," says VP Anders Refsgaard.(read more on p.2)30,000 fans travel with DFDS DFDS Logistics at Hi-tech summit Meet the team from ParisPage 2: German football fans & players willtravel via DFDS for Champions League Final.Page 2: DFDS Logistics met with electronicscompanies at a summit in Amsterdam.Page 5: Staff from BU France & Med. met withPeder Gellert in their new offices in Paris.

No. 21 / 24 May 2013 | 3Inspectors from the Danish Maritime Authoritycongratulate Captain Flemming Langballe onthe successful certification.CROWN awarded first Maritime LabourConvention certificateFollowing a two-day inspection and audit CROWN SEAWAYS became the first passengership in Denmark to be certified according to the new Maritime Labour Convention at1200 today. The MLC is a new international convention which regulates all conditionson board for the crew and which is intended to improve conditions for the crew, bothoperationally and for ship design. The MLC comes into force on 20 August 2013 and theentire world fleet must be certified by then. This has placed great pressure on theauthorities and the certifying bodies to put the legislation and processes in place sothat DFDS could implement the necessary measures and have the certification processplanned for all ships. The preparation of all systems and procedures has taken place inclose cooperation between Crewing and Marine Standards, but Captain FlemmingLangballe and the entire crew of CROWN SEAWAYS must be highly complimented forimplementing all in a very short time and achieving certification without a singlecomment by the Danish Maritime Authority.ARK FUTURA will also be certified later today in Italy, after which the rest of the fleetwill follow in a planned process over the next couple of months.Thomas Mørk, Marine StandardsSertica is going ashoreFrom left: Per Lund Jensen, Chief AccountantImmingham, John Hatcliffe, WorkshopManager Immingham, and Tracey Jubb,Administrator Immingham.Over the last couple of years we have implemented Sertica as our new maintenancesystem on all ships where the system has been very successful and has beencontinuously expanded to cover also procurement and Health & Safety. Sertica is nowgoing ashore. On 22 May a team from Vlaardingen visited Immingham where they arealready using Sertica as the new maintenance system in the terminal workshop whereterminal equipment is maintained and repaired. The aim is to extend the system toVlaardingen, and later to all other terminal workshops in the DFDS’ network. In thelonger term – and in cooperation with DFDS’ trailer pool management - the plan is toexpand the system to trailer workshops as well, where our trailers and even somecustomers’ trailers are maintained. “Sertica will be a great benefit in the terminals.Today we have to manually update and transfer data between systems such as Phoenixand an excel sheet. But with Sertica most of the data such as running hours forequipment, procurement and statistics will be transferred automatically, and we onlyneed to work on one system” says Tracy Jubb, Administrator at Immingham. She has, together with Chief Account Per Lund Jensen, been given the task by Alistair Campbell,Head of Terminal Competence Centre, to implement Sertica for DFDS workshops.
