TAEKWONDOSUB- <strong>COMMITTEE</strong>INTRODUCTION2009 was a year for strengthening andbuilding on what we had achieved inthe past years. The focus was placed intoattracting new trainees, retaining thosewho have attained their black belts and topromote the Combat-Robic Programmefor adults.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEARThe CSC Taekwondo Section continued to do its part for thecommunity by hosting the quarterly supplementary gradingat the <strong>Club</strong>’s Auditorium. The grading sessions were wellattended by exponents from CSC and other clubs.members, staff from Sports & Lifestyle Department andthe parents for their unfailing commitment throughoutthe year. They have certainly contributed to the success ofthe Section.The Taekwondo Camp cum Annual In-house Games washeld from 14 to 15 March which turned out to be the CSCTaekwondo Section’s most fun and exciting event in thehistory. A total of 17 trainees from various ages and beltstook part in the camp where they were taught the power ofmental and technical skills in Taekwondo. As for the AnnualIn-house Games, a total of 22 trainees from various gradesand ages competed against one another through severalstations where their fundamentals in the martial art weretested and scored. From speed to techniques, it was a funyet immensely challenging event for them.LOOKING AHEADOur emphasis in the new year will be on recruiting newtrainees and nurturing them. We will endeavour to create aconducive environment for their practice sessions and buildtheir character through diligence and discipline. Traineeswho have potential and have reached a high standardwill be groomed to be competitive exponents or to beauxiliary trainers.APPRECIATIONThe Taekwondo Sub-Committee would like to thank theSports and Games Committee, all members and their familieswho have graciously given us their full support throughoutthe year. I wish to extend my appreciation to the TaekwondoSub-Committee members for their time and commitment inplanning all the activities for the trainees and for their care forthem.
