A turbulenthistoryThe history of <strong>Liechtenstein</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Palace</strong>dates back to the year 1691 when CountDominik Kaunitz commissioned the constructionof this magnificent building.Prince Johann Adam Andreas I of <strong>Liechtenstein</strong>acquired the building in 1694and it has been owned by the PrincelyHouse of <strong>Liechtenstein</strong> since then.It was damaged heavily in the final days ofWorld War II after being hit by bombs anda plane that had crashed into the roof.The post-war years saw only the completionof safeguarding works. The first restorationof the palace did not happen untilbetween 1974 and 1976.The palace suffered heavy damage in World War II.The <strong>City</strong> <strong>Palace</strong> in the mid-70s after preliminary repairs.
