Bornin 1920 and raised in Chicago's Hyde Park, she moved to <strong>Peru</strong> with her husband, Clifford Darryl Jordan. She assisted him inhis optometric practice and later co-founded <strong>Peru</strong>'s first nursery school. She drove many miles to complete her bachelor'sdegree, and later her master's degree in education. Betty taught social studies at the <strong>Peru</strong> Junior High School for 30 years andinspired many students to write letters of gratitude to her for her high standards and passion for global education. Betty beganto travel and eventually visited 46 countries, both for her own enjoyment and for augmentation to her curricula. In 1970 shebecame a Fullbright Scholar to India. She also because a U.S. manufacturer's representative for a Korean brassware company.After the death of her husband, Betty moved to Warner Robins, Ga., where she reconnected with former Hoosiers andexpanded her personal fulfillment through the practice of Reiki and Tai Chi. She continued to travel, often visiting her son inEast Africa, and her grandchildren wherever they scattered. Betty had an unquenchable desire for adventure, but she wasalways happy to return to her home where she golfed, danced, wrote, nurtured animals, read and kept track of her family'slives.
