Flora, 91, <strong>Peru</strong>, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, <strong>2011</strong> at her residence. She was born in <strong>Peru</strong> Aug. 21, 1920 toJoseph and Daisy (Kreig) Keim. She married Roy E. Flora Jan. 5, 1938 and he preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2006. Berneicewas a homemaker, and with her husband owned and operated Clearview Glass and Miniature World for several years. She wasa former member of the Moose Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Joseph B. (Bev) Flora, <strong>Peru</strong>; grandchildren, Jeff (Melody)Douglass, Kokomo, Mark (Jean) Lefebvre, Liberty Center, Alec (Jill) Lefebvre, Macy, Shilo Van Dalsen, Avilla, HeatherFlora, <strong>Peru</strong>, Erica, of South Carolina, and Scott Divivo; three step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, Cortnee M.Lefebvre, Carlee K. Lefebvre, Megan M. Lefebvre, Ashley N. Lefebvre, Marley K. Lefebvre, and Jacek Treyvon; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.Berneice is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Allan and Paul Flora; a daughter, Marie VanDalsen; a sister, Thelma Taylor; and a brother, Bernard Keim. A funeral service will be noon Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., with Pastor Lowell Burris officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.Friends may call at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Beard wasborn Jan. 27, 1936 in <strong>Peru</strong> to the late Lavughan and Catherine Wolf Beard. In addition to his parents he is also preceded indeath by two sisters, Loretta Jane Doyle and Roberta Ann Hagan. Mr. Beard was retired from the railroad, member of theAmerican Legion Post 228, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, member of Loyal Order of Moose, and Korean Veteran.Survivors include his wife, Martha Lutz Beard, of Eva, Tenn; children, Steven Beard, of Fishers, Ind., and Julie (Jerry) Gosch,of Missouri City, Texas; a brother, Harry (Judy) Beard, of <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind.; a sister, Jenny Kay Beard, of <strong>Peru</strong>, Ind.; andgrandchildren, Sarah, David, Riley and Ryan. Brown Bixler (Oct. 11, 1930 - Sept. 2, <strong>2011</strong>)Dorothy A. Brown Bixler, 80, Athens, passed away at 9:18 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, <strong>2011</strong>, at the Chase Center of Logansport. Shewas born on Oct. 11, 1930, in Kokomo, to Robert Avert and Grace Garner Brown. Growing up in Richland Township,Dorothy shared her childhood as one of nine children with seven brothers, Joe, George, Ira, Lee, Kenneth, John and Max, and asister, Grace Marie. She was a proud member of the Richland Center High School, graduating with her class in 1948. Justmore than two years later in Fulton, on June 11, 1950, Dorothy married her best friend and love of her life, George W. Bixler.Their marriage spanned nearly 56 years until his unexpected passing on March 10, 2006. Dorothy is lovingly remembered byher sister, Grace Marie Miller, Rochester; three brothers, Kenneth Brown, Rochester, John Brown and wife Neva, Russell, Ky.,and Max Brown and wife Deloris, Lake Palestine; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by herparents; husband, George; and brothers, George Robert Brown, Ira Brown, Lee Brown, and Joe Brown and his wife Bonnie. Acelebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. The Rev. PhilPratt will officiate. Friends may visit with Dorothy’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to her services. She willbe laid to eternally rest next to her beloved husband George at the Athens-Hoover Cemetery. Memorials, in lieu of flowers,may be made to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation in Dorothy’s name.
