Group projectA piece of work given to a group of students which needs co-operativework for completion. This work may be assessed either individually oras a group.Higher educationPROGRAMMES OF STUDY which may be entered by students holding either aqualified school leaving certificate of an upper secondary school after aminimum of twelve years of schooling or other relevant professionalqualifications. Providers may be universities, universities of professionalstudies, higher education institutions or colleges.Independent projectA piece of work given to a single student or a group of students forcompletion. This work will be assessed either individually or as a group.ICT teachingTeaching/studying/learning making use of information and communicationtechnology. It usually takes place in e-learning environments.Intensive courseA short full time course of one to four weeks concentrating on a particulartopic. It may take place at another institution or in a summer school.Learning outcomesStatements of what a learner is expected to know, understand and/or beable to demonstrate after completion of a process of learning. Learningoutcomes are distinct from the aims of learning, in that they areconcerned with the achievements of the learner rather than the overallintentions of the teacher. Learning outcomes must be accompanied byappropriate ASSESSMENT CRITERIA which can be used to judge that theexpected learning outcomes have been achieved. Learning outcomes,together with assessment criteria, specify the minimum requirements forthe award of CREDIT, while marking is based on attainment above or belowthe minimum requirements for the award of credit. Credit accumulationand transfer is facilitated if clear learning outcomes are available toindicate with precision the achievements for which the credit will beawarded.LectureProvision of content by presentation and explanation (possibly includingdemonstration) by a lecturer.259
