The <strong>Journal</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> <strong>Affairs</strong> is compiled, edited and translated by: <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> Youth Association ACYA is the only not-­‐for-­‐pr<strong>of</strong>it organisation devoted to promoting greater engagement between <strong>Australia</strong>n and Chinese youth in both <strong>Australia</strong> and <strong>China</strong>. Our focus is on the student, graduate and young pr<strong>of</strong>essional demographic aged between 18 and 30. ACYA aims to: 1) provide a robust and well-­‐connected <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> youth community within which <strong>Australia</strong>ns and Chinese can forge lasting friendships, develop academic and business partnerships and share educational, extracurricular and pr<strong>of</strong>essional opportunities; 2) promote cross-­‐cultural understanding by being a non-­‐political advocate and facilitator for greater government and NGO engagement with and support for <strong>Australia</strong>n and Chinese youth; 3) act as a support base and enabler for ACYA members to develop and deliver worthwhile initiatives that increase opportunities for <strong>Australia</strong>n and Chinese young people and <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> engagement. ACYA achieves its goal <strong>of</strong> strengthening the <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> youth community through its network <strong>of</strong> over 24 ACYA Chapters spread across <strong>Australia</strong>n universities and Chinese cities regularly delivering quality social, networking, sporting, educational, publishing and volunteering opportunities and activities. Our Chapters operate on the three-­‐pillared platform <strong>of</strong> Education, Careers and People-­‐to-­‐People Exchange. ACYA was the launch pad for the <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> Youth Dialogue (www.acyd.org.au), the <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> Young Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals’ Initiative (www.acypi.org.au) and the Engaging <strong>China</strong> Project (www.engagingchinaproject.org.au). ACYA belongs to all <strong>of</strong> who wish to see the <strong>Australia</strong>n and Chinese people achieving new heights <strong>of</strong> mutual understanding, appreciation and friendship. The <strong>Journal</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Australia</strong>-­‐<strong>China</strong> <strong>Affairs</strong> is peer-­‐reviewed and sponsored by: <strong>China</strong> Studies Centre, University <strong>of</strong> Sydney The University <strong>of</strong> Sydney's <strong>China</strong> Studies Centre works in partnership with <strong>China</strong> to better understand its impact on the world and <strong>Australia</strong>, and improve cooperation and relations. We develop local and international networks, engaging with business and government in both <strong>China</strong> and <strong>Australia</strong> to lead positive change and build a brighter future for our nations. To support this work, we run regular events, headlined by our annual Sydney <strong>China</strong> Business Forum. Within the University, we play a central role in coordinating and directing the study <strong>of</strong> <strong>China</strong>. Our specialised academic program is designed to create leaders in <strong>China</strong> studies and <strong>China</strong> public administration. We also support collaborative research – including an interdisciplinary PhD program – and have combined the expertise and talents <strong>of</strong> 130 academics across all major disciplines to explore new insights that will deepen our understanding <strong>of</strong> <strong>China</strong>.
