Roy H. Park Leadership Fellows ProgramANDREA FINDLEY, MBA/MPA ’09The Park program has been an invaluable partof my MBA experience. The personal masterycurriculum pushed my awareness to a new level. While every student at Johnson has access to similarleadership development resources, as a Park FellowI was encouraged to step out of my comfort zone, experiment with different leadership challenges, and seek feedback on my leadership style. It has notbeen an easy road-continually receiving feedback andfinding the space to process that feedback is hardwork-but it has been more than worth the effort. Asa result I’ve further defined what is truly importantto me as a professional and as a person, and I ammuch more aware of my strengths and challenges.A program for outstandingMBA candidatesPre-MBA Employer:Grameen FoundationPark Project:Findley was part of a team of students whodeveloped and implemented BR Microcapital(BRM), a student-led organization at Johnson thatsupports underserved entrepreneurs in the localcommunity. In partnership with Alternatives FederalCredit Union, BRM provides coaching and financialsupport to self-employed business owners whooperate home-based or micro-businesses. BRMlaunched in January 2009 with a loan portfolio of$20,000 and is currently working with five localmicro-entrepreneurs. The organization contributesto the Ithaca community in a meaningful way and atthe same time offers new opportunities for studentsto develop their skills and take an active role incommunity development.Post-graduate employer:AccentureOFFICE OF ADMISSIONS AND FINANCIAL AIDSamuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Managementat Cornell University111 Sage HallIthaca, NY 14853-6201Phone: 607 255-4526 (in U.S. and Canada, Toll-free: 800 847-2082)E-mail: mba@johnson.cornell.eduClint SidleDirector, Roy H. Park Leadership Fellows Program217 Sage HallIthaca, NY 14853-6201Phone: 607 255-4104E-mail: ccs7@cornell.eduTAKE THE NEXT STEPFor more information about the Park Leardership Fellows Program, visit www.johnson.cornell.edu/park/.To apply, visit www.johnson.cornell.eduAll photos are courtesy of University Photography. lbd 071612 ap 250

The program brings great responsibility, and in that regard it has added to my experienceat Johnson. However, I don’t see my Park projectas an obligation to give back but rather as a strongplatform from which to drive change. When theprogram selects Parks, I think this is a qualitythat they look for-the passion and commitment tomake a difference in Ithaca and thereafter. I had anopportunity to leverage my passion for real estateand give back to a program and institution that hasgiven me much, and that’s a very rewarding feeling.Pre-MBA Employer:Hospitality Valuation ServicesPark Project:In collaboration with Johnson and the School ofHotel Administration, Greenwood and five otherstudents worked to create an experiential real estatelearning program for MBAs seeking careers in realestate, including real estate development, investing, banking, and private equity. Investment in RealEstate Securities (MBA 5720/HA 667) launchedin the spring of 2009 and has both an academic(learning strategies to invest) and practicalcomponent (management of a real estate equitiesportfolio under faculty guidance). The course givesstudents access to the Carnelian Fund, which is astudent-run investment vehicle for those interestedin real estate (carnelian is the hue of red that isCornell’s official color). Additionally, the fund aimsto provide a new and significant marketing tool forJohnson and expand the school’s relationship withalumni in real estate.Post-graduate employer:JP Morgan-Real Estate and LodgingInvestment Banking
