The release of900 acre feet for commercial developmentis not going to hurt the city andwill give us a bit of added revenue torelieve our state water costs.”One acre-foot is equal to 326,000gallons of water. For planning purposes,it is estimated a family of fiveuses about one acre-foot per year.If the council always has the optionto up the maximum, Lavagnino says“We control the amount offered andthe cost.”The mayor said that with commercialmarkets slowing nationally andlocally, the Santa Maria city councilNeed Extra Money?felt providing accessto the city’sexcess state wateryield would notaffect the city’sretail tax base. The city makesno promises beyondthe alreadyallocated 900 acrefeet.T h e c o s t i s$25,200 per acrefootRick Sweet, thecity’s utility directorsays about halfOrcutt Park & RideClosed for ImprovementsThe Clark Avenue Park and RideLot is closed for paving and landscaping.According to CalTrans, thelot at Clark Avenue and FoxenwoodLane just west of Highway 135 willundergo $90,000 worth of paving, landscaping and lighting improvements. The funding comes fromMeasure D, Santa Barbara County’shalf-cent sales tax for transportationimprovements. EverythingDear Friend,I’ve just got to tell you a story about myolder son Forest, and a garden hose. Why? Well…this story has more to dowith you than you might expect. In fact, this may be the most important messageyou’ll read all day, week, month and year !A few years back, when Forest was 7, Iwas getting ready to wash my car on aSaturday (boy did it need it). I’m a verybusy guy, so I didn’t get a chance to go tothe local car wash on Broadway duringthe week and it was filthy. I just figuredI’d pull out the old garden hose and givethe car a quick wash myself.I went to the side of the house, attachedthe hose to the spigot and turned it onfull blast. I ran around the house andpicked up the hose, and started to hosedown the car. I was whistling andcleaning along when suddenly the waterjust stopped flowing.I thought… “Okay, what’s wrong here? There’s got to be some interference inthe hose somewhere.” I dropped thehose and walked slowly back around thehouse, carefully examining the hose as Imade my way back towards the spigot.Sure enough, there was indeedsomething causing interference. Itwas…my 7 year old son standing on thehose, with a big silly grin on his face. Heknew exactly what he was doing, andlooked determined to stay standing rightthere. He didn’t see me, so I playfullyyelled, “ H ey…get off the hose !” Hewas startled at first, then giggled, jumpedoff the hose, and ran off to play.Once the interference was gone, thewater flowed fine and I was able tocomplete the job of washing my car.Later that day as I was relaxing with aglass of lemonade, I started laughingabout my little 7 year old, standing on thegarden hose with a big smile on his face, interfering with the flow of the water. Then it hit me… “Getting rid of theinterference is what I do for peopleeveryday.”$1 each. Interference tothe nerve system is MOST COMMONLYcaused by misalignment of the bones ofthe spine, and is called “subluxation.” Ican GET RID OF SUBLUXATION for you!I’m here to tell you that you CANNOThave s ubluxation AND health. Thetwo can’t co-exist. Whether you realize itor not, you choose one or the othereveryday. Why? Subluxation causes interferenceof the nerve system just like 7 year-oldForest caused interference on the gardenhose. Subluxation causes disease itcauses pain; it causes ill health . Byeliminating the interference of the nervesystem by having me get rid of thesubluxation with a ChiropracticAdjustment (which I specialize in), theresult can be an elimination of pain andthe restoration and optimization ofhealth.Four-Part Barbershop Harmony for Womenwho love to sing.
