Chemo Pals outnumberedevery other mentoring group in attendance,and an introductory presentation featuredthis CCA program as a stand-out in the community.Seven Chemo Pals represented CCA, alongwith their pals—the children they encourage andsupport with the positive power of friendship.Every day a new child is diagnosed with cancer,and every one of them deserves to have a ChemoPal to help them through the difficult timesahead. Kennedy, who is beingtreated for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia,received the equipment through a generousdonation from Postal Farm & Home in Woodburn,who surprised her with an extra gift: a three-foothighrobotic horse named Butterscotch.The DreamCatcher Wish program brightensthe lives of seriously ill children and teens,and helps their families with everyday essentials.Donations and discounts from the businesscommunity are essential to the program.Support of individuals is vital as well. Find outhow you can support the DreamCatcherprogram by contacting Bev Tollefson at503-200-5109 or btollefson@e-cca.org.PLAY STRUCTURES ADDED TOCCA’S CARING CABIN ON THEOREGON COASTThe Caring Cabin,CCA’s family retreathome near Pacific City,Oregon, received anupgrade this summerin the form of newstructures for the childrenand teens whovisit the home.Adjacent to the house,a high-quality redwoodplay structure wasThe crew completes construction of aadded, thanks to a generousdiscount fromnew 18-foot-high tepee at the CaringCabin on the Oregon Coastthe Kids’ Backyard Store.And in the woods below the house, an 18-foothightepee was constructed, with a thoughtful discountfrom the Colorado Yurt Company.This exquisite home welcomes families in medicalcrisis, offering them a peaceful oasis withevery modern convenience. Donations keep thecabin accessible and free of charge for the hundredsof families who will visit in the years tocome, and it’s a great way to show you care.
