PRESIDENT’S REPORTWe had a great Roma Street Festival. Our thanks go out to all that helped make this fund raising event such asuccess and enjoyed by all who attended. Public attending the Festival were impressed by our stand and theprofessional running of the stall.Café Danmark was well attended with enthusiasm by both young and old. The kitchen had some new choices inmenu to tempt the taste buds and was sold out of food by the end of the evening. There was a range of stalls, which were well visited by the club members, featuring Christmas decorations and gifts, the Baker, jewelleryitems. Do not miss out on the next Friday, 24/11/06 where there will be more stalls and shopping to enjoy. The Smørrebrødsaften Evening was completely booked out with a full house a week before the event, memberswere turned away. The President of the Norwegian Club, Alf Andreassen and his wife Linda, were our specialguests and most impressed with the Danish hospitality. The evening was very entertaining with live music andthe usual Danish smørrebrød which was delicious. Our thanks go out to all the members who helped make theevening such a great success and their hard work is greatly appreciated. If this full attendance is a true indicatorof interest in the Club, I strongly urge members to book well in advance for future functions, if they do notwant to miss out.The Norwegian Club have booked their Christmas Party and AGM at the Danish Club and we hoped to seemore of them in the year ahead. The Danish Folk Dancers are coming back to use the club facilities next year as their base and it will bewonderful to see them around the Club againThere are plans to fence in the front parking area, with gate access, in the near future. What a night!Heimdal’s FeastWe, the guests, at the November food-banquet, enjoyed every minute of it. If you missed outmy advice is: “Try again next time. It was worth every cent and more!”Guests mingled and found their seats and the room hummed with greetings and talking. Wheneverybody were seated we got up again to sing the Danish and Australian national anthems. Iwas quite amazed at how everyone joined in and sang both anthems and later on sing-alongsongs with gusto.Michael Eothbos was in charge of the entertainment with his guitar and singing and did wellwith quiet dinner music. Later on some people joined in the dancing and enjoyed kicking uptheir heels to a bit of dance music. The food was magnificent, and lots of it!Three ‘fairy’ ladies wearing little black dresses, cute white aprons and tiaras, served snaps andwarm dishes at the tables. This was a very popular ingredient of a successful night. No doubtthis made for less queuing at the bar.The reason, I am writing this similar piece in Danish as well as English, is English speakingonlypeople have told me that it is difficult to understand my tales when they have to rely onDanish speaking family, friends and a dictionary to understand what I’m saying. So there yougo a bit of double speak for those who can understand both.På gensyn and see you later at page 9
