Wireless instrumentationPulp and paper researchMechanical wood researchVision: “The Measurement and Sensor Laboratory, together with its partners, develops mutuallyvaluable measurement technology, and its utilisation in the wood-processing industry in particular,through motivating long-term scientific research and education.”Key factsThe Measurement and Sensor Laboratory (MILA) wasestablished in 1991. The Laboratory functions as a unitof the Kajaani University Consortium, a subsidiary of theUniversity of Oulu. Its chief focus is on the developmentof measurement technology for the needs of the woodprocessingindustry. The staff working at the Laboratoryrepresents a broad spectrum of training, including physics,chemistry, process engineering, energy technology,electrical engineering and automation technology. MILAalso provides M.Sc. (Eng.) training for the needs of localindustries.Research environmentsMILA provides an extensive research environment forthe needs of both the pulp and paper industries and themechanical wood-processing industries.
