Kitchen Design and PlanningBefore starting to plan your new kitchen, it is important consider how youuse your kitchen and what you would like to create. To start this process itis important to accurately measure the space where your new kitchen isgoing.To measure up your kitchen space, all you need is a tape measure. When measuring the kitchen spaceremember to measure all wall lengths. Other measurements that are extremely helpful when planningyour new kitchen are the current position of appliances, plumbing, windows, doors and ceiling height ifyou are planning on going all the way to the ceiling.If you don’t feel confident measuring, you can arrange for us to come out and measure the room andhave a short design consultation with you in your kitchen.Now you have your measurements, you can start planning your kitchen. Start with position of the appliancesthat have a fixed location. Then position any corner cabinets you require. Then it is simply a matterof fitting in our standard module sizes between these units. Remember you have a little bit of flexibilitywith fitting sinks and appliances and these don't always need to go exactly where they were. If thestandard cabinets can’t be made to fit the space, a filler panel can be used or we can custom manufacturea cabinet to suit your exact requirements. Also if there isn’t a cabinet that suits your needs, simplyask any of our staff and we can give you a quote on any custom module you may need.End panels are recommended at the end of exposed cabinet sides, in dishwasher cavities and for creatingspaces for your fridge. Remember to take them into consideration when planning your spacing.Melamine products are typically 16mm in thickness while thermolaminated, polyurethane and Createcproducts are typically 18mm thick.Fitting panels should be used between the wall and cabinetry to ensure doors and drawer have theclearance to open correctly. These fitting panels are available for base, wall and pantry cabinets andtypically are between 16 and 50mm wide.When positioning your stove or cooktop, it is important not tohave them too close to a fridge or pantry panel. A minimum of300mm between the edge of the cooktop and vertical panels isrequired when designing your kitchen. Also don’t place yourstove and sink too close together. Generally 450mm is a suitabledistance.

The 12mm TrafficZone products are all rated AC5 which aresuitable for use in both heavy wear residentialand commercial areas.B: The decorative film is a layer that containsthe timber design of the floor. It is ahighly colourfast product that will maintain its appearance for many years.C: The high density wood fibre board is made from recycled and reclaimed hardwood fibrescompressed under high temperature and pressure. Hardwood is naturally resistant againstmoisture and humidity, making its fibres most suitable to be used as the core material forlaminate flooring. This is what gives Inovar Floor its Superior Water Resistant qualities.D: The film on the back surface balances up the board to provide good dimensional stability.This layer is also water resistant thus acting as a secondary moisture barrier for the floor.E: The underlay is up to 3mm thick and is designed to reduce noise transmission and cushionthe timber flooring. A primary moisture barrier is sometimes combined with the underlay toprotect the floor from under floor moisture.Section 2:2
