Launch of the JuniorNeighbourhood Warden schemein <strong>Freemantle</strong> and <strong>Polygon</strong> The Primary Care Trust will betraining local people to help othersadopt a healthier lifestyle.This Plan is about making <strong>Freemantle</strong>and <strong>Polygon</strong> even better – so that morepeople think that it is a good place to liveand all residents have the chance to getthe skills, confidence and jobs that theyneed to improve their own quality of life.To make this happen local people andservice providers need to work together.This Plan provides a framework for whatneeds to be done so that residents,voluntary and community groups andthe key agencies can clearly see howthey can work together towards thesame goal.The Plan’s emphasis is on improvingservices so that they are easier for localpeople to use by, for example, agenciesworking more closely together, sharingpremises, or simply knowing what otherorganisations are providing so thatresidents are quickly directed to theplace where they can get the supportthey need. Extra money may berequired for some of the Actions. Thisneeds to be found either from existingbudgets (by reallocating resources and /or doing things differently) or fromapplying for, and winning, new money.This is not a blueprint for everything thatis going on or everything that needs tobe done. The Plan highlights a limitednumber of important local actions thatwill make the most difference to the livesof local residents.As well as the local Actions set out inthis Plan there will also be projectscovering a much wider area that willincrease educational attainment andemployability (giving people the supportand training so that they can get jobs orbetter jobs). They are detailed in theLocal NeighbourhoodRenewal Strategy andinclude: Working with schools and familiesto encourage pupils to continue ineducation, training or get jobs afterthey leave school Increasing self employment and newbusinesses Targeting public sector recruitment inPriority Neighbourhoods like<strong>Freemantle</strong> and <strong>Polygon</strong>.At the same time agencies will continueto improve their services (explained inindividual strategies and programmese.g. for health and schools) andcommunity and voluntary groups willcontinue to provide the many servicesand activities that are so important to thecommunity.The Plan has been prepared followingextensive consultation with local peopleand with the Central NeighbourhoodsPartnership, which will oversee theimplementation of this Plan. Actions totackle the most important issues areincluded in this Plan and other valuablefeedback has been passed on to therelevant teams and service areas forconsideration. 3
