EZ Roll Grass PaverCASE STUDYProject InformationEZ Roll Permeable Pavers were usedto contain soil contaminated with highlevels of metals in Depew, New York.The affected area was located adjacentto a busy street in a utility right ofway. Removing the contaminatedsoil and replacing it with clean soilwas the ideal solution. However, thissolution was prohibitively expensiveand would have interfered with theinstalled utilities and traffic in the area.The involved agencies represented byAdvanced GeoServices chose insteadto design a containment scheme whichfeatured EZ Roll Permeable Pavers.Only the top two inches of soil weredisturbed during the installation, savingboth time and money.The advantages of using EZ RollPermeable Pavers for thisapplication are:• Provides a visible, physical barrierto the contaminated soil• Allows stormwater to percolate intothe soil, filtering contaminates fromthe water• Reduces or eliminatescontaminated water from enteringthe storm drain system• Promotes vegetation growthwhile holding topsoil in place andstabilizing the subgradeThe completed project improved theappearance of the area while stillallowing access to the utilities withoutblocking traffic.The general contractor stated,“Advanced GeoServices identifiedan innovative capping technology[for the contaminated soil] usingEZ Roll Permeable Paver as aprimary component.
