National Film Center has been providing fi nancial support to Tbilisi International Film Festival for some years<br />
now. Such sponsorship has increased this year. Several parallel events will take place under the aegis of National<br />
Film Center which on the fi rst place encourages development of the Georgian Film Production. We have invited<br />
some representatives of important foreign funds such as the World Film Fund and Hubert Bals Fund, as well as<br />
distribution and co-production experts, who will conduct presentations, workshops and seminars for Georgian<br />
fi lm producers and directors. A round table meeting will be held with participation of Georgian and foreign experts.<br />
Integration of Georgia into the European fi lm structures is one of the priorities of the National Film Center.<br />
Very soon Georiga will become a member of the European Commission Euromage programme. It will promote<br />
the creation of fi lm production and extend the Georgian fi lms’ market. Any international fi lm festival is a forum<br />
to exchange information, to seek potential partners and start thinking about co-productions.<br />
From this viewpoint any fi lm festival is a necessity rather than luxury. Reputation of Tbilisi Film Festival keeps<br />
increasing from year to year. I am absolutely sure that collaboration between the National Film Center, Ministry<br />
of Culture and Municipality in this direction will be effi cient in the future as well and that Tbilisi International<br />
Film Festival will take worthy place on the world culture map.<br />
