Project Overview• Project development began around 2005• Located on a 28 acre site in <strong>Plainfield</strong>, CT, one mile from I-395• Project is fully permitted• Construction began in August 2011 and is ~ 60% complete• Startup and commissioning is expected to begin in May withfull commercial operations by November• Primary fuel source will be C&D wood waste• 80% of electricity will be sold to CL&P• Plant will run at full output continuously, except for periods ofmaintenance4
Project Design• The project uses a fluidized bed staged gasifier system• Gasifier vessel:– Contains a sand bed which becomes fluidized by air blown in frombelow– Fuel is injected above the bed and is gasified– Overfire air is introduced above the bed to complete the combustion• Heat recovery steam generator• Air pollution control:– Selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) – NOx control– Multiclone – particulate matter control– Spray Dryer Absorber (Scrubber) – SO2 and acid gas control– Fabric Filter Baghouse – particulate matter control5
