EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSESSMENTSYSTEM Assessment systems should be alignedwith appropriate curriculum andinstructional goals/practices. Interconnected components: assessment of children adult-child interaction program measurement
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT• A dynamic process involvescollecting and synthesizinginformation across multiple contentareas, sources, and setting• Authentic assessment gives a pictureof the whole child. not just isolatedskills and milestones, and it shouldalso help to differentiate instructionand expand parents and educators‟understanding of children undertheir care.
SCREENING Developmental screening allows for the earlyidentification of cognitive, motor, language orsocial-emotional delays in children that may hinderanticipated growth, development and learning It is a way of identifying children who are at riskand that may require additional diagnosis, assessment and evaluation.
SCREENING Screening is used to determine if developmentalskills are progressing as expected. The screening process is only the initial step ofongoing observations about the needs andresources of the child and family.
SCREENING A screening tool is not sufficient forconfirming a developmental delay or disorderwhich requires an assessment Children whose screening results indicate apossible delay or disorder should undergo acomprehensive assessment
