FOREWORDCaptain’s MessageThe first nine will be opening for play in May and I would like to thankmembers for their patience during the golf course upgrading period.Members had the opportunity to join us for a preview tour of the new nine onFriday 25 March. News of the tour was put up on notice boards around theClub and sent by email and SMS to all our members. Members enthusiasticallysigned up and in total about 70 joined us for the tour. They were given a sneakpreview of the first to ninth holes with short stops in between to enjoy theviews. I would like to thank all who joined us for the positive feedback andinterest.With a new nine-hole course in operation, the Golf Committee would bereviewing existing procedures to ensure that all members would have equalopportunity to play on the new nine.• Booking procedures – Currently, members would queue to book theirflights and re-queue to book in proxy for their friends. This createddifficulties for other members who could not be at the Club by 5pm onFridays to book flights. When our new nine opens, the Golf Committeewould enforce a “one-member one-flight” booking policy and no proxybookings would be allowed.• Morning golf – There would be no morning golf play before time sheet.This would allow our maintenance team to carry out their work withoutinterruption before the course opens for play at 07.15am.• New buggies – We have purchased 40 new buggies for use on the frontnine, which would be allowed on track for the time being, until thenew turf is fully established for free roaming in the course. Buggy usewill be made compulsory for guests and visitors, as well as during clubcompetitions.• Green fees – Our current green fees would be revised. Each member wouldbe allowed to introduce three (03) guests on weekdays and weekends.• New route to executive course – With the closure of the second nine,golfers headed to the executive course would be re-routed to the rampbehind the swimming pool. Adequate signage would be put up to directmembers.The upgrading of the golf course is only part of our efforts to raise the profileof our Club. Much more needs to be done, and all of us – from the staff tomembers and guests – play a big role in creating a friendly and pleasantatmosphere at the Club.
