EditorialDear All,Assalam o AlaikumWe know that opening the doors of education towomen is not just the right thing to do, it is thesmart thing as well.Even one extra year of education can lead toachieve significantly broader avenues forwomen, which allows the women to liftthemselvesup, their families, and contribute tothe community.Education leads to more choices, opportunities,and information on how to live one’s life; andmost of the ill will starts to decline wheneducation level rises.Yet women represent about two-thirds of nearlya billion of illiterate adults around the world. Nosociety can achieve its full potential whensignificant portion of the population is denied theopportunity to achieve theirs. Today we arefeeling proud to join with Bihar Anjuman tolaunch what we hope will be an important newstride towardsachievinggreater education forwomen around us.Today we do not have a precise picture ofwhether educational institutions are servingwomen as well as they should, whether they arelearning to read, write, do arithmetic at the levelsthey need to succeed.We do not even know muchabout what the obstacles are. Last time hewanted to launch his campaign to become a national leader he tried tolaunch his campaign from the US where he has a following in the Gujarati-American community, we all worked together and got his diplomatic USvisa revoked in 2005.
