Representatives are sought from the following areas: North Woolwich Silvertown West Silvertown Custom House & Canning Town South Beckton Representatives must: • Have lived in the area they wish to represent for at least 12 months. • Be aged 18 years of age or over. • Be able to demonstrate, perhaps through membership of a Tenants’ and Residents’ Association or local community group, that they have the means to collect views, information and enquiries from members of the community in their particular area, and to disseminate information back to the community from the Committee’s meetings, consultations and airport updates. • LONDON CITY AIRPORT CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE is seeking community representatives from Newham Would you like to represent your community on matters relating to the airport? Are you able to attend quarterly meetings from 4.30pm on weekdays? Are you willing to provide your contact details for the Committee’s website and local media? If you can answer YES to the questions above, you may be interested in applying to become a community representative on the London City Airport Consultative Committee (LCACC). The LCACC is a consultative body with a membership representing local communities, local and public authorities, the airport and airport users. The committee is not a decision making body but an organised forum to inform the diverse range of stakeholders of current issues relating to London City Airport and the aviation industry and seek feedback. Representatives are sought for a three year term and will be selected according to the criteria listed above. All applications must be received by 31 July 2009. Airport Update Exciting Embraer Tests at London City Airport Back in March, London City Airport had a visitor – the Embraer 190SR. This new generation aircraft forms part of British Airways’ plans to replace their current fleet of BAe RJ85 and RJ100 aircraft at London City Airport. Over the course of a week, the Embraer 190SR conducted over 40 take off and landings to trial its steep approach technology, parking ability on LCA aircraft stands and also to conduct an intensive noise evaluation. If the trials are successful and the aircraft meets the strict operating and noise control criteria unique to London City Airport, the Embraer 190SR will be approved for operations at LCA alongside the Embraer 170 which undertook successful trials in 2007. The Embraer 190SR 2009 Route Update New Routes Routes Ceased Pilots Gather for Biannual Forum During March, chief and senior pilots from all airlines operating at London City Airport gathered at the biannual London City Airport Pilots’ Forum. The Forum is a two day conference hosted by the airport operator, attended by the airlines and the aiport Safety and Operations Directors, plus regional and local staff from National Air Traffic Services. The LCA Pilots’ Forum provides pilots and key ground personnel an opportunity to discuss issues and matters relating to the airport’s operation to maintain and improve safety. The Forum also includes discussions on operational and environmental improvements that could be made at London City Airport, on topics such as runway occupancy, punctuality, performance and air traffic control. An example is minimising aircraft holding times both onthe ground and in the air, which reduces the amount of time aircraft engines are active. In the first half of 2009, the airport has, as expected in the current economic climate, experienced some route changes. The airport currently has interest from and discussion with other airlines about providing some of the routes lost this year. 3
