TCreating Marbling EffectsWith an illustration like the one opposite, it’s important toavoid letting the background ink media bleed into the mainsubject. Use a medium fine brush to apply coloured inkaround the figure. Then repeat this outline using Blenderink, allowing the two applications to mix naturally. Use theinks SPARINGLY where they are close to the main figure– overloading the paper with ink will cause it to spreadand bleed.Further away from the main subject, inks can be used moreliberally. The marbling effect is produced by letting thecolour dry then carefully dropping blender ink direct fromthe bottle, onto your work surface. The Blender will diffusethe dried ink, giving a marbled appearance.Rendering BackgroundsDrop different coloured inks and Blender ink on Bleed proof MarkerPaper. Then, holding the edges of the paper, tilt it around so the coloursswirl and mix together naturally.
