October, 2013Introducing Deer LakesDeer Lakes School District is made up of three scenic townships. They are East Deer, Frazer and West Deer - making a perfect combination ofsuburban and rural living. The nature of the Deer Lakes School District is one which glistens with much civic pride, and one that brims over with a determined quest to providea quality educational environment for its highly motivated student population.Located approximately 24 miles north- east of downtown Pittsburgh, the district is just 30 minutes from the city and 10 minutes from thePennsylvania Turnpike in northern Allegheny County. Linked by suburban roads that are well maintained, the area enables its residents to be lessthan 25 minutes from The Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, major shopping complexes, entertainment, movie theaters and interstate access. Many of the people that make up the Deer Lakes population are of an extremely diverse mixture of ethnic heritage families who, in many instances, have resided in the area for several generations. In addition, new and younger families are finding the region to be a perfect environment in whichto live, work, and comfortably raise a family. From century old farm houses, original mining, and factory homes to elaborate new housing communities,Deer Lakes appears to hold a fulfilled appeal for most all of its residents. With its much-complimented community friendly environment, its family-oriented aura, and a school system that has been accorded numerousmerits and offers its students an outstanding program of studies, it’s no wonder that the Deer Lakes School District is a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family.
