The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is

made up of many generous donors, each with a

passion to make a difference in our region. By

planting their seeds of generosity, they create a

garden that provides beautiful bouquets of “good.”

As our slogan says, they are “Growing Good.”

As the Foundation begins its 17 th year, we reflect on the generosity of so many

donors that has made so much good possible.

With more than $346,000 in gifts donated to the Foundation in 2011, the total

contributions feeding this garden that is our community foundation is now at more

than $9 million.

In 2011 the Foundation board awarded more than $368,000 in grants, bringing

the grand total for grants in the past 16 years to more than $3.2 million.

The beauty of the Foundation’s grant making is that the majority of it results from

endowments, permanent funds that provide an annual revenue stream for dozens

and dozens of deserving individuals such as scholarship recipients through named

scholarship funds and veterans through the Southern Tier Military Support Group

Fund as well as organizations such as the Olean General Hospital, Cattaraugus

County Arts Council, Olean-Bradford YMCA, Olean City School District, SPCAs in

Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, Salamanca Area Senior Center, Olean Little

League and Rebuilding Together.

At CRCF we believe in the beauty of giving.

We see its impact in small and large ways

each day and over time.

We see it in the faces of donors…their eyes

sparkle with joy in helping and making a

We see it in the words of appreciation of

recipients…and sense it in their hearts as they realize what is now possible.

We thank both our continuing donors and new donors whose philanthropy provides

beauty every day throughout our region.

Growing Good in our Community

What is beautiful in your eyes? See how your dream for a

more beautiful community can become a reality at CRCF

with your own fund or by adding to an existing fund.

Here are just a few reasons people have started funds or

donated to funds recently:

for those who are living in poverty or are homeless…

common cause – building a community center,

preserving local history, ensuring children have the

opportunity to learn and explore new heights…

With one fund you can address a wide range of

charitable interests to benefit one or a number of needs

and nonprofit organizations.

You can make your fund permanent by setting it up as an

endowment. It’s beautiful forever. And tax-deductible, too.

Karen Niemic Buchheit, Executive Director, second from left,

meets with Horse Resource members (from left) Becky Smith,

Terry Crisafulli, Annie Widger and Ruthe Riehle with Ms.

Riehle’s horses, Nikita and Pebbles.

Friends of the Foundation Luncheon

More than 120 people gathered to celebrate the legacy of a leading
