We know that iron losses andshaft currents are a thought job at high frequency,and we select the lowest losses electrical steel onthe market.Exceptional ExcitationThe Auxiliary Winding is usedthroughout the range of alternators, and has beena proven standard in all market sectors.It is a brushless excitation system <strong>de</strong>rivingpower from a <strong>de</strong>dicated auxiliary winding withinthe main stator. This winding is protected by 4layers of polyester in addition to the clear varnishand EG43 severe environment protection used inthe most <strong>de</strong>manding applications. Fitted withinthe main stator, it minimizes overall dimensionsof the alternator and ensures a compact machine.This system ensures a high level of motor startability, and surpasses the mandatory requirementsgiving >300% forced current (short circuitmaintenance) for 20 seconds – 10 seconds morethan the standards require.S.R.7-H400bThe S.R.7-H400B regulator is an advanced compactelectronic regulator used for400 Hz machines. It is internally <strong>de</strong>signed, as weknow that this is the only viable route to get thebest from our machines.This regulator is equipped with a low speed andoverload protection with an adjustable interventionthreshold, it has adjustable voltage stabilityand it offers the possibility for a remote voltageregulationConstruction‹- Rigid steel frames (FeP12)‹- Rotors are dynamically balanced with ½ key(ISO 8821), conforms to class G.2.5 (ISO 1940)‹- Squirrel damper windings is available uponcustomer request, if the application needs it.Bearings‹- Sealed for life bearings. Superior processes areemployed to add an EG43 compound after insulationover the main and exciter windings to givea very high standard of protection. Higher levelssuch as the black butadiene (rubberized) coatingare also available.ReliabilityStandardized components are used with ‘families’of industrial machines to give very high <strong>de</strong>greesof interchangeability. Lower component countthroughout the range, and also within individualmachines, has focused efforts to enhance thereliability of the products. In testimony to this, thereliability prediction according to the military standardMIL-HDBK-217F, was a failure rate of 75,82fpmh (failures per million hours), 13,189 hoursmtbf (mean time between failures).Minimum MaintenanceThe <strong>de</strong>sign of the <strong>400Hz</strong> alternators arebuilt with low maintenance in mind. Bearings haveup to 40,000 hours life expectancy, and windings,including the auxiliary winding, have high <strong>de</strong>greesof protection. Where maintenance is necessary,access is very simple (ie no PMG (permanentmagnet generator) to remove before replacingand exciter stator. In addition the commonality ofparts improves component availability.AccessoriesA large number of accessories are available onrequest.
