Now a popular sailing centre, this was once a Roman town and thriving port exporting<br />

corn from the local hinterland. The village is surrounded by atmospheric coastline with<br />

miles of deserted salt marshes.<br />

This small town is the chief of the seven Burnhams. It has interesting small shops and<br />

inns among the fine Georgian houses which surround the village green.<br />

Docking (map 1: D2)<br />

A quiet upland village on the highest part of <strong>Norfolk</strong>. Because of its location, water<br />

was scarce and the village was known as Dry Docking. Attractive village with duck<br />

pond and good amenities. You will notice the imposing old union workhouse now<br />

used as housing.<br />
