ProducerRebecca Jean Wissner-Born was a junior Tamburitzan. Videographer-editor Frank Caloieroperformed with the Tammies from 1988 until 1992. Together they bring viewers the newdocumentary, "Duquesne University Tamburitzans" which premieres Monday, November 19 at7:30 p.m. as part of WQED’s weekly EXPERIENCE series.“We documented the 75th anniversary celebration in Pittsburgh, traveled to Ohio to visit theTammie's first graduate who is now 98, and then joined the group on the road for a show inMaryland,” said Wissner-Born. "Whether you already know the Tamburitzans or are meetingthem for the first time, you will be captivated by their dazzling costumes, explosiveperformances and unparalleled dedication to cultural performance and preservation."The program features rare historic images and old film, but also focuses on what it's like to be amodern-day Tamburitzan. The Tammies, who are all full time students with substantialscholarships, travel most weekends performing to audiences across the country.
