LUIS DE GARRIDO
CLIENT
ANAVIF - ANAS (SPANISH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE)
Green Box is the first modular building prefabricated, reusable, transportable,
bioclimatic, with an infinite life cycle, with zero energy consumption, and without
waste generation.
Luis de Garrido was inspired by natural and emergent shapes in land, sea and
sky and discovered that triangles are the most natural shapes in Nature. These
triangles enable one of the aims of Green Box ’s design to be reached: to give the
home a landscaped roof that can be passed by as if it were continuing the land.
Cemexlimpio by concrete company Cemex is a green spot. Its vocation for flexibility
creates a system through modular elements linked where standard waste
containers are placed. Each “L” shaped module is leaned upon the previous one
allowing for different lengths and flexible lay-outs. A slight disorder is kept to
remind people of what waste looks like. The colours are the current waste codes,
to be easily recognized and help the critical moment, just when waste is split up.
It is made with a recycled material: return waste concrete.
HEADBOARD PALLET / 2008
AUTHOR / COMPANY
PABLO MACÍAS AND BELÉN SÁNCHEZ / CUATRO TUERCAS
A sustainable design would be a design that not only doesn’t generate any but
also diminishes existing waste. A design that, at a glance, shows its intention and
invites people to change their habits. An excellent sustainable design would be
one in which the only energy that is consumed is the creative type. The Headboard
Pallet points to that direction.
Its aim is sustainability and functionality, without giving up aesthetic values.
The pallet adapts perfectly to its new function only by changing its context.
AUTHOR / COMPANY
TONI SOLANAS / TONI SOLANAS’ ARCHIQUECTURE STUDIO
CLIENT
EDITORIAL GUSTAVO GILI
The quality of Spanish architecture is valued throughout the world. However,
the degree of sustainability of the buildings is still poor. This is why it is worth
getting acquainted with some examples by those who are starting their way towards
managing building resources which are friendlier with the environment:
bioclimatic buildings, changes or improvements in the industry, ecological constructions
and restoration among others.
This publication is a reference for sustainable architecture in which thirty-two
architects express their concerns and show us forty buildings where solutions
that will soon be widely used are applied.
