In this context, we introduce alandmark Sembawang project thatcreated an infrastructure that hadgreatly enhanced connectivity in thecountry.The Circle Line, which is a MassRapid Transit line in Singapore, isa significant part of Singapore’sgrowing rail system. The 33.3 km lineand 28 stations fully-undergroundorbital route links all the radial linesleading to the city thereby providingessential connectivity. Since all theMRT routes cross through someof the busiest areas in Singapore,all of its stations are locatedunderground, freeing up land forother developments.Sembawang built the final stageof the Circle Line, known as Stage5 Contract C856. The projectcomprised the construction andcompletion of four MRT stations(Pasir Panjang, Telok Blangah, HawPar Villa and Labrador Park, the lattertwo being civil-defence stations),HarbourFront Station fit-out works,3.7 km of twin bored tunnels, sixcross passages and three overheadbridges.The 5.8 m diameter twin boredtunnels were constructed by tunnelboring machine. Other worksincluded 640 m of cut-and-covertunnels, civil works, and architecturaland building services for the fourstations.
