Expected crop losses include:• Lettuce 80 to 100 percent loss• Cucumbers 70 percent loss• Peppers 80 to 90 percent loss• Squash 90 to 100 percent loss• Tomatoes 80 to 100 percent lossBased on availability and quality, the Foodand Nutrition department will provide ourpatients and customers with these productsif quality and pricing issues are notcompromised. Over thenext 30 days, Dr. Husson will transition out of his clinical practice and will directhis expertise toward strengthening our focus on patient safety and further engagingMedical Staff members in the practices necessary for compliance and for becominga high reliability organization (HRO).• Stacie Bommersbach, director of Clinical Safety, HRO, and RiskManagement, will report to Dr. Husson.• Also reporting to Dr. Husson, will be a Medical Staff Office manager (a newposition yet to be filled) that will assist in deploying the many new processesrequired to address deficiencies identified in our recent JointCommission/CMS surveys, including introducing information technology toautomate labor intensive manual systems.• Clark Headrick, DO, will be named as the full-time Medical Director of ClinicalInformatics, and will begin reporting to Chief Information Officer Dan Stross inorder to hardwire a stronger linkage between our physicians and the robust FY12clinically-oriented I.T. initiatives Genesys will be implementing.• JoAnne Herman will continue her focus on physician relations and begin reportingto CFO Chris Palazzolo. With a renewed focus on the growth required for CriticalSuccess Factor 1, JoAnne’s recruitment and physician relations efforts are betteraligned with the business development initiatives led by Chris.• Karen VanCura, Patient Experience coordinator, will begin reporting to JeanDoerge, vice president of Performance Excellence and Quality Improvement, tocreate the alignment and synergy necessary to meet the priorities of Values BasedPurchasing.• Tammy Merkel, director of System Improvement, will report to GRMC PresidentBetsy Aderholdt in order to create greater access and alignment to LEAN practicesthat will cross all aspects of our upcoming FY12 Strategic Plan, especially in theclinical settings.• Scott Cruzen, officer of Life Safety, Environment of Care & Security, will beginreporting to Rod Jones, director of Buildings & Grounds, in order to better integratetheir work, especially given our current compliance environment.• Finally, Jennifer Montgomery, vice president of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer(CNO), will be leaving Genesys to take on a new role with increasedresponsibilities for nursing and ancillary services at Port Huron Hospital. OnJennifer’s last day of Friday, March 4, the following GRMC nursing directors willassume interim senior leadership roles:• Charlotte Mather, director of Women & Children’s Services, will becomeGRMC’s Interim Vice President of Women and Children’s and EmergencyServices. Genesys welcomes George Zureikat, MDPediatrician George Zureikat, MD, has joined the Genesys medical team aspediatric inpatient specialist medical director. In this newly-created role,Dr. Zureikat will focus on the treatment and management of clinical complexitiesfor inpatient pediatric care. He also will oversee physicians who provide pediatricinpatient care and will serve as a resource and consultant on pediatric care – fromroutine to complex cases. Dr. Zureikat will work closely with Sara Pendleton,MD, pediatric medical director.Dr. Zureikat completed a pediatric critical care fellowship in 1986 from theUniversity of California. He has received many awards for his work includingthe Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation Excellence in Researchaward. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine, andis a diplomate in sleep medicine from the American Board of Pediatrics.
