24. Police/EmergencyServices †The Production shall inform the Policeand/or appropriate emergency serviceof all proposed filming on the streetand/or in a public space in liaison withthe Film Contact.The staging of crimes andaccidents, plus use of firearms(including prop/imitation/deactivated/replica firearms) and special effectsshall be agreed, in advance ofthe shoot, with the Police and/orappropriate emergency service andthe Film Contact.The Production shall inform thepolice and/or appropriate emergencyservice when filming involvescelebrities who may cause securityor crowd control issues.24.1 The Metropolitan Police ServiceFilm Unit (MPSFU) supports andencourages filming in London.They will endeavour to provide allreasonable assistance to film-makers.There may be a legislative impactof scenes involving the following:• Fake Police officers or vehicles• Re-creating crimes• Presence of weapons both prop/imitation and, in the case offirearms, deactivated/replicafirearms• Explosions or perceived explosives• Special effects• Scenes involving nudity• Filming on the move e.g. Low loaders,‘A’ frames and trackingAll enquiries regarding the above willbe managed by the MPSFU, unlessyou are filming in the City of London.These enquiries will be dealt with bythe City Police. A Police presence canbe requested to assist with the abovescenes. The Production shall coverany costs of providing this service.Simple and straightforward shootsshall be dealt with by individualBorough Operational Command Units(BOCU’s). Problem SolvingIn the event of a dispute arisingbetween the Production and otherparties on location, please contactFilm London on 020 7613 7683 oremail locations@filmlondon.org.uk.26. PublicityThe Production (or in some cases,the Distributor or Broadcaster)shall provide the location/BoroughFilm Service with publicity material onrelease of the project wherever possible.27. Public Liability InsuranceThe Production shall provide a copy ofPublic Liability Insurance to theBorough Film Service or filminglocation, for all location filming andagree to indemnify the location owneror representative against any claimsarising as a direct result of theactivities of the Production.Also see, Indemnity & Insurance28. Public Transport †The Production must seek permissionfrom the relevant Film Contact beforefilming on public transport. PleaseNote: Drinking alcohol or beingperceived to be drinking alcohol is nowbanned on the Tube, London Buses,Docklands Light Railway, tram servicesand at Transport for London stationsthroughout the city.Rr29. Residents & BusinessesThe Production shall consult withlocal residents and businesses thatmay be affected by their filming priorto and during the shoot.The Production shall considerdiversity and equality whenconsulting with residents andbusinesses. The Borough FilmService should be approachedbefore residents and businessesare contacted as they should beable to provide the Production withrelevant local information to aid a fairconsultation process.30. Risk Assessment †Risk Assessments are requiredby the self-employed and by anycompany with employees to beable to satisfy their insuranceprovisions and statutory obligationsto employees and those affected bytheir actions.Additional location specific RiskAssessments are also requireddepending on the type and natureof filming. Rivers & WaterwaysWhen planning to film on anywaterway, the Production mustliaise with the Film Contact from therelevant governing body as early aspossible. Specific health and safetymeasures will apply.32. Road MarkingsThe temporary painting-out ordisguising of road markings, linesor other road signs is subject toagreement in advance with the FilmContact and, if necessary, HighwaysAuthority. The Production shall alsonotify local Police in advance of anysuch undertaking.The Production agrees to fullyreinstate any alterations to roadmarkings to the satisfaction of theTraffic or Highways Authority andwhen obliged to use officialcontractors shall pay cost price.Ss33. Scaffolding/Lighting Towers †All requests to erect scaffolding/lighting towers in a public area,highway or footway shall be agreed inadvance with the Film Contact and/or designated authority.
