Notice that it gives you theBridge ID of the root switch (8000000abc123c00). Two interfaces are participatingin this Spanning Tree (ports 1 and 2). Port 1 is in Forwarding state. Port2 is in Blocking state. Notice that the timers and the priorities we talked aboutare defined. If you add the suffix detail to this command, you get a more thorough report:Switch#show spanning-tree detailBridge identifier - 0x8000000abc4321a0Active global timers - NonePort 1 is FORWARDINGPort - Path cost: 4, Priority: 128, Root: 0x8000000abc123c00Designated - Bridge: 0x8000000abc123c00, Interface: 96, Pathcost: 0Active Timers - Message age: 2BPDUs - Sent: 0, Received: 1750044Port 2 is BLOCKINGPort - Path cost: 4, Priority: 128, Root: 0x8000000abc123c00Designated - Bridge: 0x8000000abc123c00, Interface: 96, Pathcost: 0Active Timers - Message age: 2BPDUs - Sent: 0, Received: 1750044Notice that this information is giving much more detail in regards to the individualinterfaces. You can see that it gives you much of the same informationwe had in the show spanning-tree command, but it adds some additional data(e.g., BPDUs sent and received).Speeding Up ConvergenceWe've gone over the different timers that you can change to speed up convergence. You've also been warned that you should, in practice, not change thesesettings from their default. You do have other options: Fast Port Span and FastUplink Span.Fast Port Span is what you would assign to a port that is connected to a workstationor server. The idea is that you're explaining to the switch: “This port's adead-end; no need to worry about Layer 2 loops here.”fastport-spanFast Port Span automatically changes your convergence time from 30 seconds(15 seconds in Listening; 15 seconds in Learning) to 4 seconds (2 seconds inListening; 2 seconds in Learning). The good news is that Fast Port Span isenabled on all of your switch's ports by default.202 Brocade <strong>IP</strong> Primer
