Chapter 15: Server Load Balancing (SLB)Brocade provides a stackable and a chassis version within the ServerIron ADXseries, similar to the Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches. The stackable ServerIronADX functions from a single CPU and includes capabilities of all modules listedin following section, but the stackable version does not have growth capabilitiesof the chassis versions. The ServerIron ADX chassis versions have growthpotential and require that the modules listed in the following section be purchasedseparately. The minimum requirements for a chassis are oneApplication Switch Management Module, one Management Module, oneSwitch Fabric Module, and one Interface Module.The Application Switch Management Module (ASM)The ASM blade gives the ServerIron chassis some serious application processingpower. Each ServerIron Application Switch Module (ASM8) has four dualcoreprocessors dedicated to processing application traffic. They're the workhorsesof the ServerIron chassis.Depending on the chassis, the maximum number of core supported is 32 (fourASM8 blades in a 10000 Chassis).
