Unique in its class, it offers 775 litres of luggage space behind the secondrow of seats. The load area comprises all of 330 litres when there are seven people in the vehicle.By folding the rear seats down – all rear seats can be lowered level to the loading area – the loadingvolume can be increased to up to 2,035 litres as standard. The generous loading width of 1.22 m easilyprovides room for up to four golf bags lying sideways. There is a large through-loading facility locatedin the second row of seats as standard. The supercharger is a central element in boost pressuregeneration. Or, put another way, it ensures outstandingtorque even at low engine speeds. The rotor unit, theelectrically controlled butterfly valve in the bypass bendand the engine-side heat exchanger of the indirect chargeair cooling system are integrated in one single-piece castmetal housing. And onceyou have driven with quattro, you do not want todrive with anything else. Why? Because this driveputs the engine’s power on the road in such aconvincing way.quattro is a permanent all-wheel drive. If thewheels on one axle of the vehicle lose grip on theroad and threaten to spin, then the drive force istransferred to the other axle – automatically andpermanently distributed through the centredifferential. The basic distribution is 40 : 60 –40 % of the driving power comes from the frontaxle, 60 % from the rear. The benefits are bettertraction during acceleration and improved safetydue to exceptional grip.But what makes quattro unique is really thedriving feel. “As if you are stuck to the road,”some customers say. We put it like this:quattro gives you more feel for the road and thusincreased safety.

50SuspensionDynamics and comfort were once opposites.With Audi adaptive air suspension they are united.Can the road communicate with the suspension?And above all: can the suspension understand theroad? In the Audi Q7 and Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro itcan – the suspension adapts to the driving situationand the road (standard from 250 kW) as well aspossible. We call it Audi adaptive air suspension.An electronically controlled air suspension systemoperates individually on each of the four wheelsand is combined with an infinitely variableadaptive damping system. 52Brake systemsNothing can stopa top athlete.Except for a top braking system.The 18-inch high-performance braking systemin the Audi Q7 takes a powerful hold with its6-piston fixed callipers on the front axle. Asingle-piston floating calliper is used on the rearaxle. The brake discs comprise a cast friction ringwhich is connected to the brake disc chamberby means of steel pins. This so-called floatingmounting ensures that the friction ring remainstension-free to a major extent, improvingstability under extreme temperature loads.The axial perforation and cooling channels forinternal ventilation also increase the brake discs’performance. The use of aluminium not onlyreduces the weight of the brake discs, it alsoimproves the weight balance of the unsprungmasses.For even more demanding loads, the Audi Q7 V12TDI quattro is equipped with a 20-inch ceramicbrake* with an 8-piston fixed calliper as standard(optional for 4.2 TDI quattro). With this brakingsystem, the brake discs on the front axle aremade of a carbon-fibre reinforced ceramicmaterial. This is based on hard and abrasionproofsilicon carbide with high-strength carbonfibres embedded. This combination results in anenormous abrasion resistance which allowsextremely high mileages to be achieved and atthe same time reduces sensitivity to high thermalloads.
