The <strong>Resistance</strong> Testverifies theexistenceofdeadshortswithintheturn-to-turncoils, shows anyimbalances betweenphases due toturncountdifferences, alongwithlocatingpoorwire connectionsor contacts.<strong>DC</strong><strong>HiPot</strong>testing detects faults ingroundwall/earthinsulation,andalso providesacomplete PolarizationIndextest. The groundwall/earthinsulationsystem consists of the wires insulation, slotliner insulation, wedges, varnish, andsometimesphasepaper.<strong>Surge</strong> testing detects faults inboth inter-turnwindingand phase-to-phase insulationsystems. Usingadvanced analog-to-digitalconversionhardware, the“D” series captures the surge testwaveform,remembersit,displays it indefinitely,andprints ittothe includedinkjetprinter. This surge waveformstorage capabilitycan be appliedto othermotors besides simple inductionmotors. TheDSeries canbe usedtotest allthe rotatingfields ofasynchronous motorbystoringthe waveformfromasurge testonone coil,andcomparing thatwaveform toawaveform from every othercoil.Test results fromupto 10motors inthe fieldcan be stored,retrieved,printed, anduploadedtoadesktopprogramfor file managementandanalysis.Each ofthese 10motorrecordshas its ownmemorylocation.
