VARIOUS ACTIVITIESWorld Book DayWe had another exciting day again this year but this time our theme wasmagic and mystery and everybody came to school dressed as theirfavourite character out of a magical or mystery book. Many activitieswere organised including story telling sessions for the Foundation Phasepupils by two of our parents, Mathew Gravelle and Eiry Jones.T. Llew Jones DayTo celebrate the life of one of Wales’ most famous children’s authormany fun activities were organised to promote the work of the author andpoet and everybody came to school dressed up as a character out of hisbooks. We hope to make this an annual event.Links with the CommunityThe school’s choirs took part in many events during the year including aconcert with Cardiff Polyphonic Choir and CF1 in aid of Fairbridge and aconcert with the Cardiff Blues’ Choir in aid of Arthritis Research.Year 1 and 2 pupils took part in Tafwyl festival organised by MenterCaerdydd.The Welsh lessons, organised by Cardiff University, are still being heldin the school library every Friday morning and new lessons for beginnersare being held at the Park Inn Hotel opposite the school.We were happy to be part of a pilot scheme to hold Farmers’ Markets inschools and two markets have already been held on the school grounds onFriday afternoons at the end of the school day. We hope that they willrestart in the near future..Sporting Activities and Various CompetitionsCongratulations to all those pupils who competed in the Urdd Eisteddfod,the Welsh Book Council book quiz, the Urdd swimming galas (manywent through to the National Gals held in Cardiff) and the sports teamsfor their success during the year. Many thanks to the teachers forpreparing them so thoroughly. We also appreciate the parents’involvement in arranging the successful Clwb Chwaraeon for Year 3 – 6pupils every Wednesday. The new football and rugby posts are now upon the field and we would like to thank the Ffrindiau for contributing totheir cost.
