<strong>Christ</strong> <strong>Our</strong> <strong>King</strong>-<strong>Stella</strong> <strong>Maris</strong> <strong>School</strong> Newswww.coksm.orgW hat a Celebration Day!This past week saw history beingmade as Sister <strong>Stella</strong> <strong>Maris</strong>, ourlongest serving principal, presidedover her final Field Day at the <strong>School</strong>.This year, the format had beenchanged a bit to coincide with the newname (“Celebration Day”), whichworked out quite well since the facultyand student body had planned a bigsurprise for Sister. After an openingblessing led by Father Bob Higgins,Assistant Principal Larry Oleksiakintroduced Mt. Pleasant Mayor HarryHallman who read a proclamationnaming May 25 as Sister <strong>Stella</strong> <strong>Maris</strong>Day and presented her with a Key tothe City. Student Council PresidentDaniel Rebula spokeon behalf of all thestudents, andthanked Sister for herdedication, and thenunveiled the Eighth<strong>Grade</strong> Class Gift—astunning large Crossmounted on abackground of blueand inscribed with theLord’s Prayer.Sister’s thanks wereheartfelt and touching, and thechildren’s closing song to Sister (TheIrish Blessing) left everyone clearlymoved.
