Lightweight materialsStarting at just 1600kg and using a range of advanced lightweight materials,Range Rover Evoque is the lightest Range Rover ever. There are key weightsavingmaterials throughout the vehicle, including an aluminium bonnet androof and a magnesium cross car beam. The front fenders and tailgate assemblyare constructed from composite materials. Even the thickness of the acousticallylaminated windscreen is reduced to save weight and improve fuel efficiency,performance and handling. Si4 turbo petrol engineThe Si4 petrol engine is a 2.0 litre engine in a lightweight all-aluminium unit with the latest direct-injectiontechnology, advanced turbocharging and twin independent variable valve timing to help lower fuelconsumption and CO 2 emissions by up to 20 percent compared with traditional larger capacity enginesdelivering equivalent performances. The engine is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission that hasbeen engineered to improve fuel economy and that features Drive Select, an advanced rotary gearshiftwith steering wheel mounted paddle controls. It also delivers a rich, powerful engine sound duringstrong acceleration and features a unique exhaust manifold for quicker warm-up and lower emissions,a low friction design and a state-of-the-art electronic management system. The system will even sense off-roadconditions and optimise damping accordingly.Range Rover Evoque features the latest in power assisted steering technology.EPAS (Electric Power Assisted Steering) delivers accurate, consistent steering andagile cornering. Power assistance is speed-sensitive for lightness and responsivenessat low speeds and increased firmness at higher speeds. Park assist, surround camera,blind spot monitoringPark Assist option. This useful latest generation, advanced automated technologyappears for the first time on a Range Rover. Helping the driver to parallel park in tightparking spots (as little as 1.2 times the length of the vehicle), Range Rover Evoqueuses ultrasonic sensors to steer while the driver operates the accelerator, brakeand clutch. Real time information is also displayed on the Driver Information Displayto aid the driver through each stage of the manoeuvre.The optional Surround Camera system utilises five discreetly placed digital camerasto relay an almost 360 degree view around the vehicle to the 8-inch Touch-screendisplay on the facia. The system provides a number of driver-assist features andcan enhance the field of view at junctions and facilitate parallel and reverse parkingas well as aiding other on-road and off-road manoeuvring. The five digital camerasare housed around the exterior of the car – two at the front, one on either sideof the vehicle and one at the rear.Tow Assist, part of the Surround Camera System, is a next generation reversingaid that predicts the rearward trajectory of both vehicle and trailer. This helps thedriver perform more accurate manoeuvres and is selected from the Touch-screenmenu. Wide-view cameras on the vehicle give a clear field of vision; guidelines aresuperimposed over the resulting image to highlight the predicted reversing pathfor the vehicle and trailer.Optional Blind Spot Monitoring is also available.
