PROFESSION OF FAITH*The Apostle’s CreedI believe in God the Father Almighty;Maker of Heaven and EarthAnd in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead.He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEKTake time to discuss these questions with your family on the morning of the first day, thenrevisit the question on the next morning after reflecting on it throughout the day. Considerinteracting with your church family on these questions at 17:31-32 On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house mustnot go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back.Remember Lot's wife.In this passage, what does Jesus suggest is the reason Lot’s wife looked back? In themidst of confusion, struggle and fear, where we look will reveal our idols. Where doyou look for comfort, and in what do you seek peace and purpose other than theLord?Wednesday/ThursdayProverbs 1:20-21 Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at thehead of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks. When we are in the “streets” and “markets,” our everyday lives throughout the week,it’s easy to operate by the standards and practices of the streets and markets. Butwisdom cries out throughout the week for us to listen to her instead. Why is it so easyto operate by worldly standards, and what is the promise of proverbs for those whofollow Godly wisdom? Do we believe those promises?Friday/SaturdayProverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your ownunderstanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. What does it mean to “lean” on your understanding? Our understanding makes a lotof sense to us. It’s hard not to do that which seems to obviously lead to success. Butthe proverb doesn’t focus on success. Would you trade a straight path for worldlysuccess?- ! 9 -
