History of Miele
Since its establishment in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann with just 11 employees, Miele has always been a family owned and operated
company. Keeping in that tradition, with their great-grandsons at the head of the operation, it is now the largest family-run appliance manufacturer
in the world, with an unrivalled reputation for quality, innovation and reliability. With our international headquarters located in Gütersloh, Germany,
Miele now employs over 15,000 people in 37 countries, marketing its products through its own subsidiaries as well as select authorized importers.
Innovation and quality are the foundation of every one of our products. Our company motto is “Immer Besser”, and with this in mind, we strive to
offer our customers the absolute best products which last for years to come. Miele manufactures its appliances and parts in nine factories across
Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The high quality standards which Miele has set itself are the main reason why the key components are
produced in-house. Even the controls for our appliances are produced at Miele’s own electronics production plant. All new products are subjected
to endurance tests – equivalent to 20 years of regular use! Few manufacturers even come close to matching our high testing standards.
Miele is renowned for designing and manufacturing high quality products, and has always been a pioneer in innovation for domestic appliances. From
the invention of the first washing machine in 1900 to the launch of the first built-in coffee machine for domestic use in 1998, we’ve always been a
leading force in our market. Now, leading the way with energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions, there are even more reasons why we
are at the top of our game.
Miele Canada was established in 1988, and has quickly grown to be a leader in the Canadian high quality appliance market. In 2006, Miele Canada
celebrated the opening of our new headquarters and Miele Gallery in Vaughan. The facility is a second home to over 100 employees, and is the
base for all Canadian operations. With locations in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, our Miele Galleries are a pressure-free environment where
customers and professionals can learn all about Miele from one of our knowledgeable Product Specialists. The Miele Gallery also offers product
demonstrations, such as for our ovens and steam ovens, and is available to other businesses and individuals for a myriad of events. Having started
off with only 11 employees (coincidentally mirroring Miele’s initial German setup 90 years prior), we are now proud to have over 130 great people
working for us across Canada.
