Classic Cars
Members of the Pre67 Ford Owners
club will be celebrating their 30th
birthday on the weekend of 23 -25
September. As part of their time here
in Lochwinnoch, they will be hosting a
Classic Car display at Castle Semple
Loch from 11 -2 pm on the Sunday 25
September. There will be everything
from “Sit up and beg” Populars,
Zephyrs, Zodiacs, a very rare MKI
Consul estate believed to be the only
one in the country to rally, modified
Anglias and a they may even slip in a
few Vauxhalls and Triumphs too.
The club display regularly throughout
the classic car rally season and this
will be the last of the year before they
tuck away the cars for winter
restoration and away from the evil grit
that winter brings!!
If you can’t make the show, I am sure
you will see a few of us floating around
the village. Perhaps some local owners
may like to display with us.

Castle Semple Sailing Club
Cucina Minucci Cup
CSSC was pleased to present its new
Cucina Minucci cup to Donnie and
Alan Gillies for their win on 14 August,
with thanks to The Junction for
sponsoring the event.
The weather held, with plenty of sun
and wind by the end of the afternoon.
Eleven boats took part.
Early during the first race a sudden
gust caught three boats unawares
which ended in capsizes. Later on, two
of the three boats managed a head on
collision going round a buoy. The
sometimes gusty winds meant plenty

knackered” at the end, but everyone
seemed to have fun and enjoy
themselves with the usual banter on
and off the water.
Watersports 40th Anniversary
Celebrations
The CSSC entered three teams for
the event which was reported in
Chatterbox last month and was
pleased that one of its teams came
second overall. Next time we will be
first!
Cadet Section
Duncan's "pirate" cadets are
increasing by the week. They sail on
Wednesday evenings and Sunday
morning, gaining confidence all the
time.
24hr Fund Raising Sailing
Event in June
The theme this year was Pirates of
the Caribbean. Despite the Scottish
version of a heatwave, everyone who
took part entered into the spirit of
the weekend. The race started in true
pirate style with a water pistol fight
and missiles in the form of
chocolates being thrown from boat
to boat. The "winning" boat was the
Green boat with Jack Sparrow as
captain - however, this was not
without an element of cheating as on
a flat calm Saturday afternoon the
Green boat, at that point last in the
race, was seen speeding across the
loch at a great rate of knots. All was
revealed when the safety boat
appeared from the far side hmmm.
The safety boat then sabotaged the
leading Blue boat by circling it
several times.
Inevitably the rain came on Saturday
afternoon, Saturday night and
Sunday morning however spirits
were not dampened and the
weekend finished with an excellent
barbecue.

New Term at Liathach
Dog Training
Check that collar still fits, clip those
nails – Term timetable has re-started
at Liathach Dog Training &
Behavioural Counselling!
Due to the lamentable closure of
Lochwinnoch Annexe (our main home
for the last 12 years) Liathach’s indoor
classes have moved to Kilbarchan and
Beith. We have been very fortunate to
secure the use of two good-sized halls
– commensurate with (and in the case
of Beith MUCH larger than) that of the
Annexe - with both having outdoor
options and ample parking .
Puppy Courses (post 2nd injection)
take place in Kilbarchan on 8 week
rotations. The next Wednesday course
(starting 6.30pm) commences 7th
Sept with the next Tuesday course
starting 25th October. Early booking is
advisable.
Juvenile, Intermediate and Advanced
classes are split between Kilbarchan
and Beith with the new ‘Dog Club’ (for
experienced dogs) running in Beith on
a Thursday evening.
Outdoor classes (Agility, Gundog,
Working Trial, Rehab etc.), private
lessons and behavioural consultations
(under veterinary referral) continue as
normal.

Theatre for Children
PZAZ uk Presents "The Elf
and the Shoemaker" written by Gavin
Sinclair. This is a one hour show for
kids 3-8, interacting and being
creative with two wonderful young
actors. A treat for your youngsters.
Sat 17th Sept 2011, 1:30pm – 2:30pm
in Lochwinnoch Parish Church.
