O QUE É, E POR QUÊ DA HIPERTENSÃO ARTERIAL - OPEC

CBF autoregulatory curves (hypothetical) under various conditions. The solid black line represents normal CBF as a function of CPP. Between [almost equal to]60 and 150 mm Hg,CBF remains relatively constant, whereas above and below these limits, autoregulation is lost and CBF changes linearly with pressure. The solid red lines represents chronichypertension (chronic HTN) in which the autoregulatory curve is shifted to the higher pressures, likely because of medial hypertrophy and vascular remodeling of the cerebral arteriesand arterioles. The solid blue line represents a potential shift in the autoregulatory curve during normal pregnancy. This has been hypothesized to explain why some women developeclampsia at normal blood pressures; however, our experimental data do not support this shift (see Figure 1). The arrows point to pressures at which breakthroughs occur, demonstrating a large, steep increased in CBF. The dashed blue line demonstrates loss of autoregulation in which CBF changes linearly with pressure and is thought to occur duringeclampsia. From: Cipolla: Hypertension, Volume 50(1).July 2007.14-24
