NOJAX ® <strong>Cellulose</strong> <strong>Casings</strong> are regenerated cellulose casings that<br />

are presented in the form of shirred sticks and designed for automated<br />

production of small tubular sausages such as hot dogs, cooked<br />

sausages, dry mini salamis, and coarse ground fresh sausages.<br />

NOJAX ® <strong>Casings</strong> are also permeable to smoke.<br />

Treatments<br />

NOJAX ® <strong>Casings</strong> are available with either closed ends for use on automatic equipment or with<br />

open ends for manual stuffing. Value-added treatments include:<br />

� Regular NOJAX ® Casing is a standard product and does not contain a peeling<br />

treatment.<br />

� E-Z PEEL ® NOJAX ® Casing contains a peeling treatment to ensure perfect casing<br />

removal.<br />

� Self Coloring NOJAX ® <strong>Casings</strong>* are available in Dark Cherry and Light Orange and<br />

impart food grade dyes to the surface of the hot dog.<br />

Finishing Formats<br />

<strong>Casings</strong> are shirred into a variety of long length sticks to match requirements and optimize<br />

productivity on the wide range of stuffing and cooking systems available in the industry. Casing<br />

sticks are then packed in Flex Caddies.<br />

Storage & Handling<br />

NOJAX <strong>Casings</strong> are pre-moisturized and ready for use. They are delivered in special packages<br />

in order to retain the existing moisture. Store the casing only in its original, protective packaging<br />

to retain moisture. Ensure that any unused casings are enclosed properly in an airtight bag.<br />

Store in a cool, dry place away from steam pipes, hot storage areas and direct sunlight. Best<br />

storage temperatures are 40° - 75° F (4° - 24° C). Best storage humidity is between 60 and<br />

70%. If, during transport or storage, the casing have been exposed to low temperatures below<br />

(32°F or 0°C), they must be held at normal temperat ure (60° - 70°F or 15° - 20°C) for at least<br />

two days before being used..<br />
